Resource Room Representative-RESEA and Rapid Response

San Angelo, TX

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adheres to the mission of SERCO.
  • Shows interest and concern for all customers, treating them with respect and care.
  • Assists customers in navigating computer-based information sources such as America’s Job Bank, Work in Texas, and My Texas Careers
  • Assists customers with the preparation of resumes and applications.
  • Interviews customers or their authorized representatives to gather information to assess service needs.
  • Responsible for the intake process of center customers to determine eligibility for services.
  • Conduct in-depth interviewing, testing, and skills assessment of eligible participants for entry into career center activities.
  • Maintains detailed participant records in compliance with the agency’s policies and procedures.
  • Inputs information into and maintains TWIST records (daily).
  • Compiles and distributes accurate intake and assessment reports.  Submits a weekly report summarizing daily activities to the supervisor.
  • Responsible for the coordination, development, recruitment, account maintenance, and outreach activities to prospective employers in the Concho Valley.
  • Conducts outreach presentations to employers, the Chamber of Commerce, and economic development agencies in the Concho Valley.
  • Explains to the customer the varieties of software programs available for their use.
  • Monitors computers and printers to insure they are in good working order. Performs limited troubleshooting of personal computers and submits requests for in-depth maintenance when required.
  • Operates and monitors the use of fax, copier, and phone bank.
  • Obtains and maintains occupational and Labor market information.
  • Make career/job information available through computer and printed material.
  • Maintains information on self-assessment, career planning, occupations, employment opportunities, job market conditions, and other relevant trends.
  • Keeps an accurate usage record for Resource Room on a daily basis. Performs data entry for various reports.
  • Assists in maintaining inventory of available Resource Room materials. Responsible for the custody, care, and safekeeping of agency property and exercises control over expendable supplies.
  • Delivers Orientation(s) for job seekers outreached via Unemployment Insurance (UI) Profiling.
  • Conducts phone calls to job seekers appearing on UI and Dislocated Worker (DW) reports
  • Assists with Curbside services and Virtual Lab services
  • Manages VOS and Work in Texas System
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Ability to properly interview and screen clients for services.
    • Must be able to travel within the state.
    • Must treat customers with dignity and respect.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
    • Excellent communication skills.  
    • Knowledge of and ability to use a personal computer.
    • Knowledge of assessment tools used in workforce center applications.
    • Skills in establishing rapport with participants.
    • Ability to prepare reports.
    • Ability to properly administer and score assessment instruments.
    • Ability to read and interpret eligibility requirements.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

    • High school graduate or GED certificate.
    • Experience using a variety of computer software programs. 
    •  Experience with interviewing customers to assess and to record information regarding training needs, education needs, employment needs, and labor market trends to fully explore career development opportunities.
    • Preferred experience sales and customer job placement. 
    • Must possess and provide a valid Texas Driver's License and Automobile Liability Insurance as required by the State of Texas.
    • Must have access to reliable transportation in order to travel within the service area.

    • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing duties of the job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; for long periods of time. Employees must be able to drive for extended periods of time. Employees must occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and must be able to set up the display area.
    • WORK ENVIRONMENT: Fast-paced, demanding physically and mentally, will be in constant communication.
